295.2 Spring Issue 2010

295.2 Cover

April may be the cruelest month in Eliot’s calendar, but at the NAR it means celebrating National Poetry Month. This is our annual poetry issue, showcasing the winners and finalists of our annual James Hearst Poetry Prize. (Do note Michael Kriesel’s poem on page 5: a double abecedarian with A-Z words on both ends of each line. Fun.) Also,May is Asian Pacific American Heritage Month in the US, so we are featuring writers Jeffrey Ethan Lee and Lee Ann Roripaugh. In fact, in our Synecdoche column, we review books by Roripaugh and Asian American writers Bino Realuyo and George Estrada. Oh, and do check out the literary limericks on page 24 . . . cruel indeed to the ageless traditions of literature. Ha.
