295.4 Fall Issue 2010
In honor of Native American Heritage Month we feature J. P. Dancing Bear, Tiffany Midge, and Janet McAdams. This issue’s Synecdoche also reviews Native American books by Allison Adele Hedge Coke as well as Dancing Bear, mentioned above. The Past Perfect this time, by our own Anne M. Drolet, updates Native American concerns covered in the NAR archives.
November 11th is Veteran’s Day in the US, and in observation of that we offer four poems by W. D. Ehrhart, Jim McGarrah, Michael Miller, and Tana Jean Welch that explore wars’ wide devastating impact on people. This issue’s Crosscuts also reviews four films by war vets, including Samuel Fuller’s Verboten! and Audie Murphy’s Apache Rifles.
All three short stories in this issue unveil tensions within academe and feature teachers having to make tough, personal choices. We trust you’ll enjoy this diverse literary offering from your friends at the NAR. Our mission: We work to make literature and art matter. Peace out.
